Garden Projects
Monica Milla has created many gardens – for herself, for clients, and as a volunteer. Three of her favorite gardens are the TLC Cat Garden, the Cobblestone Farm Historic Fountain Garden, and, of course, her own garden.

Monica created this garden in the spring of 2005 for Cobblestone Farm, an 1845 Classic Revival house in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The house and gardens are interpreted for the 1860s and Monica researched plants that would have been grown in Michigan at the time for this garden.
Monica's Garden
Monica started her own garden in late August 2002. When she moved into her current home, the only green things were four hostas and grass. Now beds surround three sides of the house and the edges of the backyard, and two island beds (one quite large) replace more lawn. Aside from a shed and a winding brick pathway (the latter installed by Kevin's Landscaping), Monica did all the planting, mulching, and bed making. She started many plants from seeds and got divisions from indulging friends and plant swaps. Monica also built a large compost bin and two rain barrels. The garden is very much a work in progress. A freak hail storm in late June 2006 destroyed much of what was growing at the time, but by fall 2006 (see above), color and hope had returned.
